The widely-known International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) is used for the first three years to introduce a wide range of subject areas and skills. The IMYC is the ideal approach to enable students to reach their full social, academic, cultural and sporting potential.

The IMYC prepares the students to achieve future success in the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and, the IGCSE provides a solid foundation for any higher level courses.

WISS is now an International Baccalaureate World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy -  a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education - that we believe is important for our students.

A learning process specifically designed for the 11- 14 years' brain

The International Middle Years Curriculum, based on conceptual themes, helps students to develop an enquiring mind, the personal attributes that will support them throughout their late teenage and adult years, and a sense of their own nationality and culture, at the same time developing a profound respect for the nationalities and cultures of others. Through the IMYC approach to learning, students develop the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to confidently face the world of the future.

The IMYC process of learning creates opportunities to connect learning and develop a personal perspective, to work with peers, take risks in a safe environment and to help students to become confident, independent and engaged learners. It also provides them with the necessary academic rigour and transferable skills to prepare them well for the IGCSE and IBDP.

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education Program is focused on ensuring that students are successful in passing their first external exam, the IGCSE, at the end of the two year programme. This is an internationally recognised qualification.

Students sit for the IGCSE examination at the end of Middle School programme (Form 5). This two year course of study is organised by the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) Syndicate, and is taken in November each year. The IGCSE is equivalent to the formerly GCE ‘O’ level in the UK and the School Certificate in Mauritius.ForPmore information please visit: t
